Macoma moesta (Deshayes, 1855)
A very common benthic bivalve mollusk of arctic seas.
Size
- Length to 35 mm. Adults usually 20-30 mm.
Color
- Periostracum colorless, pink or yellowish, shiny.
- Inside – white.
Habitat & Distribution
- Infaunal.
- On silty substrates, often with gravel or stones.
- Sublitoral mainly.
- Widespread boreal-arctic.
Feeding
- Deposit and filter feeder.
